Chairman of the Latvian Parliament opened an embassy in Tbilisi.

The parliaments of Georgia and Latvia will continue to cooperate actively in the future. This statement was made by the speakers of parliaments of two countries, Davit Bakradze and Solvita Aboltina at a joint briefing.

Aboltina said Georgia is a successful member of the initiative Eastern Partnership, and Latvia supports the development of Georgia's trade relations with the European Union and the liberalization of visa regime.

"Latvia has always supported Georgia's aspirations to NATO and the EU. We expect positive results from Georgia at NATO summit in Chicago," Aboltina said.

David Bakradze stressed the traditional cooperation between Georgia and Latvia.

"Relations between our two countries have traditionally developed very well. There is Close cooperation in almost all issues that are important for Georgia," Bakradze said, noting that Latvia is one of the first, which made a statement about the occupation of Georgian territories.

An embassy of Latvia has been opened in Tbilisi today. Chairmen of the Parliaments of Georgia and Latvia participate on the ceremony.
