The appointment of special representatives of the Russian president in Abkhazia and South Ossetia was called "cynical" by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Tornike Gordadze.
"When heads of Russian regions appointed curators in so-called independent states, it is the highest manifestation of cynicism" the diplomat told reporters.
Gordadze noted that these decisions show that the Russian leadership "is not completely" trusts its puppet regimes in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. "The fact that these "countries" are supposedly "independent" states - does not even deserve any criticism," he said.
The head of the Krasnodar Territory Governor Alexander Tkachev was appointed special Russian Federation representative in Abkhazia, and the head of North Ossetia Teimuraz Mamsurov was appointed Russian representative in South Ossetia.
