Georgia, Tbilisi, March 26 /Trend N. Kirtskhalia/

Georgian Foreign Ministry made a special statement on so-called "elections" in separatist South Ossetia region.

According to the statement, holding of so-called "elections" in the occupied region of Georgia once again demonstrates the complete lawlessness and control of current processes there by Russian Federation. Also the Russian occupation regime held second round of so-called "Parliamentary elections" in occupied Abkhazia on March 24.

"By methods of ghost democratic Russia is trying to legitimize so-called "elections"and thus hide demographic changes produced by violence and ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands people. Russian Federation deprived internally displaced persons and refugees the right to dignified and safe return to their homes, along with other internationally recognized rights. In addition, the occupation regime continues to violate the rights of population remaining in the occupied territories. Situation is particularly complicated by the fact that the EU and other international organizations observers are not allowed in the occupied regions to reflect the difficult situation in terms of human rights " - said in a statement.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia calls upon the international community to give a proper assessment to farce arranged by the Russian occupying forces in the occupied regions of Georgia and continue to exert diplomatic pressure on Russia in order to force her to fulfill international obligations, including the ceasefire agreement on August 12, 2008.
