The Pardon Commission under Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili recommends pardoning 170 convicts.
As Georgian Public Defender Giorgi Tugushi said following the commission's meeting, the commission considered 417 pardon applications and recommended to meet 170.
In addition, the commission recommended reducing 30 prisoners' term of sentence by half.
According to Tugushi, within a few days the President will consider these documents and announce a pardon on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, which is marked on April 15 this year.
The pardon list will also include convicts recommended by the Prosecutor's Office and the Patriarchate of Georgia.
