Chairman of the Adjarian government Levan Varshalomidze has discussed the situation in the region with EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort.
Varshalomidze familiarized the guest with the processes in the region and throughout Georgia.
The conversation touched upon Adjara's tourist potential and the ongoing construction.
Philippe Lefort stressed the EU last resolution which included the items relating to South Ossetia and Abkhazia, as well as the course of the Geneva talks.
Military actions were launched in the Georgian territory, South Ossetia on Aug.8 in 2008. Later the Russian troops occupied the Tskhinvali city and drove the Georgian military back. Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in late August. In response, Tbilisi broke off diplomatic relations with Moscow and announced two unrecognized republics as the occupied territories.
