The Georgian Coast Guard and the custodial service of the Black Sea have detained a vessel sailing under the Panamanian flag.

The "SENA T" vessel was detained for polluting the sea area in the fifth berth port of Poti, the Georgian Border Police told Trend today.

The ship dropped oil containing liquid into water.

An administrative case was filed against the ship's captain, Ukrainian citizen Aleksandr Demchenko.

A Poti court ordered the captain to pay a fine to the Georgian state budget in the amount of 65,000 lari ($1=1.64 lari) and compensate damages amounting to 2,212 lari.
