Ten employees of the Gldan prison have been arrested over accusations of torture. A special briefing on this case was held today by Prosecutor General Murtaz Zodelava.
Ten employees were arrested as part of the public prosecutor's investigation.
Previously, Corrections Minister Khatuna Kalmakhelidze resigned. At the briefing, she explained her resignation was tied into evidence of torture in Tbilisi Prison No.8.
Yesterday, protests were held in connection with videos of abuse of prisoners that were shown by opposition TV channels. The president promised to punish those who were responsible.
