Georgia's draft budget for 2013, developed by the previous government will be withdrawn. A document conforming to the priorities of the Georgian Dream coalition's programme will be submitted to the new parliament, candidate for finance minister Nodar Khaduri told the media today.
"We will withdraw the document from Parliament and resubmit the budget," he said. "Education, health and agriculture will be our priorities. All our promises, namely the obligations will be performed as from January 1, 2013."
He emphasised that the future cabinet of ministers also promises to fulfil all obligations to the state budget-2012.
"It is wrong that there are two billion lari in the treasury to meet obligations," he said. "Around 1.5 of the two billion is owned by the state enterprises or legal entities of public law. They must be spent on them. For example, funds allocated for railways cannot be used for paying pensions or insurance. The treasury has actually got half of a billion lari to fulfil the social obligations of 2012."
The parliamentary elections were held on Oct. 1, 2012. According to the CEC preliminary data, the Georgian Dream coalition won. Saakashvili admitted the defeat of his party United National Movement and said about the transition to the opposition. The president complied with the request of the government to resign on Oct. 10.
