The President of Georgia approved Archil Kbilashvili as chief prosecutor of the country, the Georgian Minister of Justice Thea Tsulukiani said at a news briefing on Monday.
"I was told that Mikheil Saakashvili has signed a decree on the appointment of Archil Kbilashvili as Chief Prosecutor of Georgia," she said.
Tsulukiani reported that the candidate was presented a few days ago after she fired the former chief prosecutor of the country Murtaz Zodelava.
Kbilashvili promised to start an investigation on scandalous cases, including the death of Speaker Zurab Zhvania soon after the appointment.
