Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania presented Vakhtang Kapanadze to the post of First Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces on Friday.
Chief of Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces Giorgi Kalandadze attend the presentation of Kapanadze. Thus, the information about the Kalandadze's resignation, spread earlier by the Georgian media, was not confirmed.
Alasania discussed with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili the issue of Chief of Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces replacement. Mikheil Saakashvili appointed Kalandadze after the presidential party lost the parliamentary elections.
Despite the demands of Alasania supreme commander Mikheil Saakashvili didn't agree to change the Chief of Joint Staff of Georgian Armed Forces.
