EU to supply technical equipment to Georgia within readmission agreement

A ceremony to launch the supply of technical equipment worth 300.000 euros as a gift to the Georgian Foreign Ministry will take place on Monday in Tbilisi under the EU-funded project ‘Support to the Georgian government in implementation of readmission agreements with the European Union’, the Tbilisi office of the International Organisation for Migration told Trend.

A ceremony to launch the supply of technical equipment worth 300.000 euros as a gift to the Georgian Foreign Ministry will take place on Monday in Tbilisi under the EU-funded project 'Support to the Georgian government in implementation of readmission agreements with the European Union', the Tbilisi office of the International Organisation for Migration told Trend.

The project which is funded under the EU Thematic Programme of cooperation with the third world countries in the field of migration and asylum is implemented by the International Organisation for Migration. The project is aimed at assisting Georgia to build up potential in the field of migration management and to solve readmission problems.

Within the project the organisation purchased equipment for the collection of biometric data of those whose return to Georgia is required by the EU member states. The equipment is designed for Georgia's consular departments to issue the relevant documents for border crossings and civil status.
