Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze will today meet with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington. As Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend, it is Panjikidze's first meeting with Clinton in the rank of minister.
According to the Foreign Ministry, within the visit to the U.S., which will last until Nov.30, Panjikidze will hold a series of meetings with representatives of the U.S. State Department, as well as will give interviews to local media outlets.
"It is very important visit, as the representative of the new Georgian government for the first time will visit the main strategic partner of Georgia. In addition to the meeting with Clinton, I will hold meeting with congressmen, senators and experts working on Georgian issues," Panjikidze told Georgian journalists in Washington.
From the U.S., Georgian Foreign Minister will travel to Mexico, where she will attend the inauguration of new President Enrique Peña Nieto.
Later Panjikidze will travel to Europe, where she will attend the NATO ministerial, which will be held in Brussels on Dec.4-5. As part of a foreign tour, Georgian Foreign Minister will attend the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE member countries in the capital of Ireland - Dublin on Dec.6-7.
