Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 16 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /
The trial over Georgian former Interior Minister Bacho Akhalaia has been postponed to January 30, 2013. The defendant's lawyer David Dekanoidze told media that the hearing was scheduled for December 25.
However, judges Giorgi Goginashvili and Badri Shonia decided to postpone the date without the consent of the parties. However, this decision can not be challenged, as the legislation envisages such a norm.
Dekanoidze said that the prosecutor's office asked the judges to postpone the hearing, as it did not have the time to reveal evidence. The prosecution asked for 2 months for conducting additional investigation, but the court granted only a month.
The lawyer opposed the extension of the investigation term.
