Employees of "Rustavi 2" asked the investigative service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the Prosecutor's office with a request to release the detained CEO of the TV Nika Gvaramia and to end the investigation, "News-Georgia" reported.

Ex-Minister of Education and Justice, and now CEO of "Rustavi 2" Nika Gvaramia, former Minister of Finance and Energy Alexander Khetaguri, Founder of "Gutidze, Damenia, Chantladze Solution", the former Deputy Minister of Economy Kakha Damenia, General Director of JSC "Telasi" Devi Kandelaki and two former senior executives were arrested on Wednesday after being questioned in the investigation service of the Ministry of Finance. According to the head of the investigative service, they are accused of involvement in the transfer of one million dollars a fictitious company, allegedly for the exercise by advising utilities.

"We urge the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the Prosecutor's office to release Nika Gvaramia during the investigation and did not make a request to place it in a pre-trial detention" - the agency quotes broadcaster staff's statement. Otherwise, it said, it will be regarded as obstruction of the broadcaster.

President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili demanded to immediately release Gvaramia, and faction of the United National Movement has suspended its work in Georgian Parliament.
