Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will meet New Year together with the Georgian military in Afghanistan. As Georgian presidential administration told Trend, Saakashvili will visit the Shukvani camp of Georgian troops in Helmand province.
President will visit Afghanistan for the second time. He was first in Afghanistan on February 20, 2012 and even took part in patrols.
1700 troops from Georgia are today in Afghanistan. During participation in the NATO operation, Georgia lost 20 people killed.
Three days before the president's arrival in Afghanistan another Georgian, Sgt. Kikadze was killed. His body has not yet delivered home.
