Georgia, Tbilisi, 10 January / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili presented Tengiz Gunava to local authorities in Zugdidi as the new governor. He is to succeed Zaza Gorozia.

It should be noted that the new government of Georgia has twice tried to arrest Gunava, who was accused of abuse of power. However, the courts released him on bail.

Saakashvili said that the former head of the Inspector General of the Ministry of the Interior Gunava is being persecuted by the new government for his commitment to the ideals of the development of Georgia. However, the president noted that the new governor does not intend to interfere with local authorities and will work on development of the region.
