Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 16 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /
The Tbilisi City Court sentenced former head of the Military Police Department Megis Kardava in absentia to two months in jail.
Kardava's lawyer Malkhaz Velidzhanashvili urged to leave Kardava without preventive punishment, but the court granted the appeal of the prosecutor's office and sentenced him to preliminary detention for a period of two months.
The lawyer will fail to appeal the decision in the Court of Appeal, as the signature of the accused is required. Kardava is not in Georgia now.
It should be recalled that Kardava is accused of torture and using sexual minorities for selfish ends and other violent acts.
