Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 20 / N. Kirtskhalia /

Saakashvili's opponents hold a rally in front of the President's Palace in Tbilisi, Georgia. The campaign organized by "Unanimity" union gathered 500 people.

Participants of the action, including many famous people of the former Soviet Union, publicly announced the completion of the constitutional term of office of President Mikhail Saakashvili. According to them, if President Saakashvili doesn't resign, it will cause a disorder, for which will be responsible those who support this.

Participants of the rally said that Saakashvili's term in office since his election to the position expires on January 21 and, therefore, from this day he is no longer a president.

Earlier, on January 5, the "Unanimity" gave Saakashvili an ultimatum warning, calling for the president to step down before January 20 and collecting signatures with this demand. According to the organizers, they have collected a million signatures to demand the resignation of Saakashvili.

In addition, the protesters demand that the Parliament of Georgia initiates the process of impeachment of Saakashvili.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the "Georgian Dream", including the Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili have repeatedly stated that they don't intend to start impeachment proceedings against Saakashvili.

Rallies organized by the union will acquire the permanent character.

It should be noted that Saakashvili himself is on a visit to the UAE, from where he is to depart for the winter session in Strasbourg. The President will return home by January 25.
