The Annual National Program is a special opportunity for the country to become a member of NATO, head of the NATO liaison office in Georgia, William Lahue said.

On Wednesday, Georgia considered the initial draft of the national program for 2013 in a meeting attended by representatives of various departments, diplomatic corps and experts.

"Today, discussions over the draft National Program for 2013, coordinated by the office of the Minister for European Integration, are being held with the support of NATO. NATO liaison offices as well as the Alliance itself fully support these efforts. This is a special opportunity for the country to become a member of NATO," Lahue said.
In turn, Georgia's Deputy State Minister for European Integration, Davit Dondua expressed his hope concerning the fact of the current program receiving positive evaluation, just like previous programs.

"The Annual National Program is a comprehensive document. This includes all of the reforms conducted by Georgian leadership for democratic reconstruction of the country. This applies to both political and legal, as well as defense aspects, external policy and security," Dondua said.
