Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 5 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /
Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili intends to introduce Giorgi Margvelashvili to the post of Georgian Deputy Prime Minister of Education and Science, the Prime Minister said at a news conference in Tbilisi today.
"I have not coordinated this with my team, but I think he is a good candidate for this position," he said.
Until now this post was held by Defence Minister Irakli Alasania, However, he was resigned upon Ivanishvili's order.
According to unofficial information, the reason for this was the discussion of his candidacy for the Georgian presidency within Alasania's party of Free Democrats and inconsistent with the Prime Minister. According to Ivanishvili, this discussion was the cause of his upset.
The Georgian government has two deputy prime ministers. One of them is Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze.
