Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 7 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will not be able to give his annual message in parliament on February 8. As the chairman of the Georgian Parliament David Usupashvili told during the Bureau of Parliament, this decision was made by the parliamentary majority.
He linked the decision to the fact that the parliamentary minority with the assistance of President Mikheil Saakashvili refused to recognise the constitutional changes limiting the president's powers.
"We want the president to come to parliament which has all the powers of an independent body, not the body which can be dissolved by the president at any time. We expect a decision from the minority and president on constitutional changes," Usupashvili noted, adding that he recognises the constitutional right of the president to address parliament.
Minority leader David Bakradze has already commented on this statement, saying that the minority and President Saakashvili are ready for the address to parliament, but the majority took a different decision.
"The decision is taken by the parliamentary bureau which is mostly composed of Georgian Dream supporters who took this decision and we will abide by it, "Bakradze said.
