Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 8 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

The Investigation Service of the Georgian Finance Ministry has started an examination with regard to the director of the Georgian de-occupation centre Gia Tortladze.

According to the investigation, the matter rests over the waste of undesignated funds allocated to the centre by the Georgian Culture Ministry. Investigators have recently seized all documentation from the centre.

At this stage, it has been ascertained some 350.000 lari was allocated to former MP Gia Tortladze for the 'Georgia without occupation' project on September 5, 2012, and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado car worth 104 602 lari was indefinitely provided to the centre.

According to investigative service, the law on state property prohibits the sale of state property given to the public domain.

However, the centre's director Gia Tortladze ignored this requirement of the law by selling the car on February 4, 2013 for $50 000 and using the money for personal purposes.

The investigation is being carried out under Section 3 of Article 182 of Georgian Criminal Code, which could result in 7-11 years of imprisonment.
