Georgia, Tbilisi, March 20 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /

The Georgian parliamentary majority is against preferential voting on constitutional amendments limiting the presidential powers proposed by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and the parliamentary minority.

According to parliamentary majority representative Zakaria Kutsnashvili, the minority's proposal violates the regulations.

"The speaker can hold preferential voting only if there is an alternative proposal," Kutsnashvili said. "There is no sense of holding the preferential voting if there is no alternative proposal. We say that there will be only one significant vote followed by the legal results."
