Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Duvudoglu hopes that the issue of the construction of a mosque in Batumi will be resolved favorably. He said this on Wednesday after a meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze.

"We are working together to address the issue of churches located in Turkey and Ottoman monuments in Georgia. The protocol is under development. Monuments located in Turkey, be it a mosque or a church, are our cultural heritage, and we are ready to assist in their rehabilitation. Hopefully, Georgia has the same attitude. This question was raised at a meeting with Ivanishvili. We hope that the issue of construction of a mosque in Batumi will be resolved favorably, and we believe it is a friendship bridge between the two countries," the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
