Protester detained by police in Tbilisi

A participant of the protest against carrying out United National Movement Party’s primary election in Tbilisi was arrested. He was detained when he was preventing passage into the territory of Expo-Georgia exhibition complex, where the primary election is to start at 15:00.

A participant of the protest against carrying out United National Movement Party's primary election in Tbilisi was arrested. He was detained when he was preventing passage into the territory of Expo-Georgia exhibition complex, where the primary election is to start at 15:00.

Police seized the man and took him away in an unknown direction.

The police have cordoned off all entrances in the territory of Expo-Georgia. There are dozens of patrol police cars. They don't allow the protester to prevent the passage of primary election's delegation.

The protest participants, who mainly include former political prisoners, say they will not throw stones and bottles, but will confine themselves to chanting to United National Movement party.

The final primary election of presidential candidate from Georgian President's United National Movement party will be held in Tbilisi on Sunday.

Four presidential candidates - David Bakradze, Shota Malashkhia, Giorgi Baramidze and Zurab Japaridze will participate in the election.

At the moment David Bakradze is confidently leading in the election.

The election will be held on October 27.
