The presidential candidate of the ruling Georgian Dream coalition Georgi Margvelashvili begins his election campaign from the ancient city of Nokalakevi (Western Georgia).
He will be presented by Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili in Nokalakevi on today, Monday.
The launch of the election campaign from this settlement is symbolic, according to David Saganelidze, head of Georgi Margvelashvili's election headquarters.
"Nokalakevi is a land, each inch of which is filled with Georgia's great history, where the greatest traditions of the Georgian people are saved. The launch of Georgi Margvelashvili's campaign from Nokalakevi means that he should be the successor of Georgian tradition, nationality and unity. This symbol wasn't chosen by accident," Saganelidze said.
