Georgia, Tbilisi, Aug. 22 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

Georgia's Central Election Commission (CEC) refused to hold a referendum on early parliamentary elections in the country.

During the Central Election Commission's meeting it was decided to refuse the initiative group to hold a referendum on the question "Would you like to hold early parliamentary elections in 2014?" the Commission told Trend on Thursday.

This referendum was proposed to be hold in Georgia in parallel to the presidential elections on October 27.

According to the report, Georgian CEC refused to register this application.

The initiators explained holding a referendum, by the fact that the previous parliamentary elections of October 1, which were won by the opposition coalition Georgian Dream, were held in "an abnormal and unusual situation".
