The first military air show will take place in Georgia's capital on September 9. According to the Georgian TV companies, around 11 aircraft will perform aerobatic manoeuvres in the Tbilisi sky.

The report said high-ranking military from various countries including the NATO member-states were invited to participate in one of the most large scale events in Georgia's history.

Preparations for the air show have already begun at Marneuli military airport. Two types of aircraft will participate in the air show which will take place in aircraft hangar No 31 which produces military aircraft.

Hangar No 31 will be renamed after Georgian aircraft designer Alexander Kartveli (Kartvelishvili), who created several types of combat aircraft for U.S. Armed Forces.

One of them today is in the service of NATO member-states. The Georgian aircraft designer participated in the creation of the Bernard and Ferbois aircraft. One of the planes created with his participation set a world speed record in 1924.

During World War II, Kartveli created the P-47 Thunderbolt heavy fighter, largely used both in the U.S. and the allies' armed forces. Post-war aircraft including the F-84 Thunderjet, F-105 Thunderchief and the A-10 are other designs from Kartveli.

Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Alasania visited the Kartveli museum in the U.S. The Defence Ministry intends to create a museum of the aircraft designer in Georgia.
