The Pardon Commission submitted recommendations to the Georgian president concerning pardons for over 150 prisoners. The commission members viewed nearly 500 criminal cases and submitted recommendations on the full release of 128 prisoners and reduction of sentence by half for 33.

In accordance with the statement of Commission Chairman Elena Tevdoradze, alongside with the early release of three minors and eight women, it is recommended to reduce the sentence by half for four female prisoners.

When considering the former prison officers accused of torturing prisoners, their cases were not reviewed by the commission, according to Tevdoradze.

The State Pardon Commission held its last meeting with the current staff.

After the October 27 presidential election, the new Georgian leader will form a new commission staffing level.
