Georgia, Tbilisi, October 31/ Trend, N.Kirtzkhalia /

The Tbilisi City Court acquitted former Defence Minister Bacho Akhalaia over the case on the Special Forces.

The case is related to the period when Bacho Akhalaia was the Interior Minister and allegedly inflicted injuries and verbal abuse on seven Special Forces soldiers because they were sympathetic to the Georgian Dream Party.

The court found the allegations were unfounded.

Meanwhile, Akhalia has already been sentenced to three years and nine months for abuse of prisoners during a prison riot in 2006. He has also been prosecuted for abuse of power and aiding the murderers of Sandro Girgvliani when he was the head of the Department of Corrections.
