Heads of General Staff and Investigation Service appointed in Georgia

Brigadier General Vakhtang Kapanadze was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. The Georgian Defence Ministry reported today that according to the prime minister’s order, the rank of major general was assigned to Brigadier General Kapanadze.

Brigadier General Vakhtang Kapanadze was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces. The Georgian Defence Ministry reported today that according to the prime minister's order, the rank of major general was assigned to Brigadier General Kapanadze.

Moreover, the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces was moved into the General Staff.

According to a report, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has today received a new Chief of General Staff.

The Georgian Prime Minister today appointed Leri Barnabishvili head of the Investigation Service under the Ministry of Finance, who has already begun his work.

Prior to his appointment, Barnabishvili worked as deputy chief of the Investigation Service under the Finance Ministry. He is a lawyer by education. He graduated from the Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

Former head of the Investigation Service under the Finance Ministry Otar Partshaladze was appointed Chief Prosecutor in Georgia.
