Some 80 units of temporary housing will be built for foreign political asylum seekers in Georgia through U.S. government funding.

The U.S. government will allocate $2 million for the implementation of the project, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia, David Darakhvelidze said after a governmental meeting held on March 6.

"Designing of the new center for asylum seekers in Martkopi (near Tbilisi ) for 80 units will be started very soon. The U.S. Embassy in Georgia informed us on the positive solution of this issue," the minister said.
