Georgian former Public Defender Giorgi Tugushi was elected deputy chairman of the UN Committee against Torture.

The election of governing bodies and bureau of the UN Committee was held in Geneva on April 28, 'Democratic Initiative of Georgia' non-governmental organization headed by Tugushi told Trend on April 28.

The UN Committee against Torture consists of ten independent experts.
