Tbilisi, Georgia, Aug. 19

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

Georgia's Economy Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili commented on Aug. 19 on the possibility of Russia banning the supply of Georgian goods to Russia.

"We hope....Russia will not see anything dangerous for itself in Georgia's signing the EU Association Agreement. We rather believe that in this context there may be many new opportunities," the minister underscored.

However, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said Georgian authorities do not rule out the re-introduction of an embargo on Georgian products by Russia.

"We have experienced this [Russian embargo] in 2006, when for several years our products were not supplied to the Russian market. If this happens again, of course, we will put deal with this and adjust to the new situation," Panjikidze said.
