Another fact of oil leak into the river of Bartskhana was recorded in the BNZ village of Batumi. The locals protest not only against the pollution of the river, but also complain about the unbearable smell and demand the timely response of authorities.
This is not the first case when the pipeline oil gets into the river. Employees of oil terminal arrived at the spot and stated that they were ready to help the people, but they had nothing to do with the oil leakage.
The service of environmental surveillance of Adjar doesn't make any comments on this fact. "It is a historical pollution," the head of the service said.
The village residents are threatening by protest actions if the problem of environmental pollution isn't resolved.
Batumi refinery claims that oil flows from the old pipes which are currently not functioning and have nothing to do with the enterprise.
