The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia will host on Jan. 27 an event dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The event is organized by the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the LEA International Foundation with the support of the Israeli Embassy in Georgia and USAID's Advancing National Integration (ANI) Project, implemented by the UN Association of Georgia (UNAG).

The event will be attended by the representatives of diplomatic corps, government agencies and the councils on national minorities and religions operating at the Public Defender's Office.

Participants of the event will light candles and commemorate six million Jews, two million Gypsies and other victims of the Nazi regime killed during the Holocaust.

Jan. 27 is the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which was approved by the UN General Assembly in 2005.

On Jan. 27, 1945 thousands of prisoners of one of the largest concentration camps, the Auschwitz, were released.
