By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Stef Blok arrived in Georgia on Jan.21, 2020, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

It is the first visit of the country's foreign minister to Georgia in the past ten years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia noted.

According to the ministry, the first official visit of Blok to Georgia “will further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Georgia and the Netherlands.”

"The issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic relations will be on the agenda of the meeting of the Georgian and Dutch foreign ministers,” the ministry said.

Georgia and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in April 1992.

Countries are actively cooperating in the fields of transport, economy, finance and defense. In 2012, the Georgian-Dutch business council, aimed at improving trade and economic ties, was established.

Last time, Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Verhagen paid an official visit to Georgia in 2009.
