Bank of Georgia to offer specific loan in agricultural sector

The Bank of Georgia will support agricultural sector by offering preferential agro-credit to its customers, Trend reports via Georgian media.

"We are constantly taking care to support the development of agriculture, to encourage already employed or potential entrepreneurs in the sector. We do this by offering products or services tailored to their needs and interests," said Director of Retail Banking at the Bank of Georgia Merab Akhvlediani.

The mentioned credit is oriented towards those willing to start a business, and have an agricultural plot of land and to grow a blueberry and intensive apple orchards there.

The loan also provides for the arrangement of an appropriate drip irrigation system.

"We think this offer will help them to start an interesting business, create new jobs and contribute to the recovery of the region and the country's economy," Akhvlediani said.

The loan is issued only in Georgian lari for financing both fixed and current assets. The minimum loan amount is 20,000 Georgian lari ($6,369), and the maximum is 500,000 Georgian lari ($159,232). The bank offers its customers a grace period of up to 48 months.
