Georgia sees increase in wine exports

Georgian wine exports amounted to $168 million from January through September 2021, compared to $142.7 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Some 72.5 million bottles of wine were exported from Georgia to 60 countries around the world from January through September 2021, which is an increase of 12 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020.

In total, 397 companies exported different volumes of wine abroad.

Exports of Georgian wine increased to the following countries:

Canada – 88 percent (261,538 bottles);

Sweden – 59 percent (96,400 bottles);

Czech Republic – 202 percent (112,356 bottles);

France – 7 percent (56,800 bottles);

Kazakhstan – 32 percent (2.8 million bottles);

Israel – 28 percent (304,827 bottles);

Azerbaijan – 21 percent (162,527 bottles);

Turkey – 209 percent (93,330 bottles);

Ukraine – 8 percent (8.6 million bottles);

Russia – 7 percent (43.3 million bottles);

Mongolia – 146 percent (362,370 bottles);

Belarus – 12 percent (2.6 million bottles).

The TOP-5 countries-exporters of Georgian wine are: Russia, Ukraine, Poland, China and Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, 25.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy were exported during the reporting period, which is 17 percent more than over the same period of 2020. Revenue from brandy exports reached $47.5 million (7 percent increase).

Some 660,000 bottles of chacha were exported, which is an increase of 97 percent. Revenue from chacha exports reached $1.7 million (84 percent increase).

Exports of wine, brandy, chacha, brandy spirits and bottled brandy totaled $270 million in revenue – an increase of 15 percent, compared to the same period of 2020.
