Finance and Budget Committee of the Parliament of Georgia will hold a concluding discussion of the draft state budget for 2022 today, after which the document will be sent back to the government with remarks, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to the initial version of the project, the volume of the budget is forecasted to be more than 18.4 billion Georgian lari ($5.8 billion).
Expenditures have increased in certain areas, including increasing the salaries of certain categories of teachers, as well as increasing pensions.
According to the Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, Irakli Kovzanadze, the budget deficit has been reduced to 4.4 percent and a 6 percent increase in GDP is planned.
This means macroeconomic monetary stability in the future, as well as low inflation and the stability of the Georgian lari exchange rate, Kovzanadze said.
The adjusted budget must be approved by the Parliament by the end of December.
