Georgia’s economic activity showing increase – minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 18

Georgia’s cumulative economic growth rate from January through September 2021 amounted to 11.3 percent, and the economic activity has increased in almost all areas, including tourism-related activities, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava said, Trend reports via the press service of the Ministry.

Turnava made the remark during participation at the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Regional Ministerial and spoke about Georgia's economic trends and solutions to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Turnava underlined the successful anti-pandemic policy of the Georgian Government, which was aimed at preventing the spread of the COVID-19, and at maximizing the social protection of the population and business.

According to Turnava, Georgia's cooperation within CAREC and the projects implemented by the organization contribute to sustainable economic development in the region.

The Minister also spoke about separate projects, the development of which will contribute to Georgia's greater integration into international and regional economic processes.

The CAREC Ministerial was opened by the President of the Asian Development Bank, Masatsugu Asakawa. The conference was also attended by delegations from the governments of the People's Republic of China, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The main direction of the organization's development strategy, CAREC 2030, was discussed at the Ministerial.
