Georgia sees increase in persimmon exports

The export volume of Georgia’s persimmons from September 1 through November 28, 2021, amounted to 10,100 tons, Trend reports via publication of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

The export value of Georgia’s tangerines over the reporting period of 2021 totaled $5.1 million, the ministry said.

According to the report, the largest volume of tangerines produced in the reporting period of 2021 were mainly exported to Armenia (4,165 tons), Russia (3,501 tons), Ukraine (2,230 tons), Turkey (108 tons), Kazakhstan (62 tons), and Moldova (39 tons).

Meanwhile, based on the previous statistics, Georgian exports of persimmons from September 1 through November 21 increased by 25 percent, compared to the same period of 2020, and amounted to 9,344 tons, while the value of exports totaled $4.7 million, which is an increase of 17 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020.

The main importers of Georgian tangerines were again Armenia (3,566 tons), Russia (3,358 tons), Ukraine (2,202 tons), Turkey (108 tons), Kazakhstan (62 tons), and Moldova (39 tons).
