Georgia shares data on TOP-5 potato export destinations for 10M2021

Georgian potato exports from January through October 2021 increased almost 12 times, compared to $963,400 worth of potatoes (3,369 tons) over the same period of 2020, and amounted to $14.1 million (40,560 tons), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

TOP-5 importers of potatoes from Georgia (Jan. through Sept. 2021):

Russia – $12.3 million (28,294 tons);

Azerbaijan – $819,550 (6,496 tons);

Moldova – $330,650 (1,848 tons);

Belarus – $177,150 (669 tons);

Ukraine – $151,114 (1,382 tons).

Russian potato imports from Georgia over the first 10 months of 2021 increased 18 times, compared to $669,140 worth of potatoes (1,662 tons) in the same period of 2020. Thus, Russian potato imports accounted for almost 70 percent of total Georgia’s potato exports.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani imports of potatoes from Georgia from January through October 2021 increased by 288 percent, compared to $210,880 worth of potatoes (1,248 tons) over the reporting period of 2020.

Nevertheless, according to the statistics, Russia surpassed Azerbaijan in potato imports from Georgia over the reporting period of 2021.
