Georgian parliament approves 2022 state budget

Georgian Parliament approved the 2022 state budget, which was presented by the Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili at the December 15 plenary session, today, Trend reports via the press service of the Parliament.

According to the Parliament, the financial document was adopted by 78 votes to 1.

The volume of Georgia’s state budget for 2022 is 19.1 billion Georgian lari ($6.1 billion), which is an increase of 332 million Georgian lari ($107.4 million), compared to the previous version of the draft budget.

The total amount of the state budget revenues for 2022 increased by 336.2 million Georgian lari ($108.8 million) and totaled 19.3 billion Georgian lari ($6.2 billion).

The forecast for the real GDP growth in 2022 is 6 percent, and 5.5 percent on average in 2022-2025. The GDP deflator forecast is projected at 4.5 percent in 2022 and at 3 percent in the subsequent years.

According to the final version of the budget, the tax revenues of the consolidated budget for 2022 in nominal terms amounted to 15.5 billion Georgian lari ($5 billion), which is an increase of 147 million Georgian lari ($47.5 million), compared to the previous version of the budget.

The tax revenues in 2022 accounted for 24 percent of the GDP, and 23.8 percent in the medium term.

Current expenditures in 2022 totaled 14.8 billion Georgian lari ($4.7 billion), or 22.8 percent of the GDP, and are projected to decline to 22 percent of the GDP in 2025.

The debt limit of the Georgian Government is set at 51.1 percent of the GDP by the end of 2022.
