Georgia, Visa to co-op to support SMEs

Visa financial services company and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding in order to support small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and local tourism, Trend reports via the press service of the company.

The document was signed by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava and Visa Country Manager for Caucasus Region Diana Kiguradze.

The purpose of the memorandum is to promote dialogues and programs for the exchange of best practices in the field of innovative payment technologies to support the development and growth of the Georgian economy, as well as accelerate digital transformation for entrepreneurs and the provision of financial information.

Visa and the “Produce in Georgia” state program will offer educational programs to support SMEs impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to accelerate digital transformation.

Furthermore, in cooperation with the National Tourism Administration, Visa plans to carry out joint marketing campaigns to stimulate domestic and international tourism.

“As a result of the cooperation, educational programs will be implemented, as well as joint marketing campaigns will be planned in order to stimulate domestic and international tourism using the specific data shared by Visa,” Natia Turnava said.

“At Visa, we also believe in innovative and technological future of Georgia, that also preserves and endorses national cultural heritage and promotes the country as one of the world’s best destinations,” Visa Country Manager for Caucasus Region Diana Kiguradze said.
