Georgian Parliament approves ADB’s COVID-19 loans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 23

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

Georgian Parliament has approved two loan agreements with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) related to the allocation of additional funds for the COVID-19 vaccination process, Trend reports via the press service of the Parliament.

Georgia already has a large supply of vaccine doses for vaccination in 2022, however, due to various COVID-19 strains, purchasing additional vaccines may be on the agenda, the First Deputy Minister of Finance Giorgi Kakauridze said.

According to Kakauridze, 12.1 million euros will be provided under the first agreement, which will be fully directed to the COVID-19 vaccination process, which includes the purchase of vaccines, transportation, and other necessary costs. The term of the loan provided is 10 years.

In addition, 464,000 euros will be allocated under the second agreement with a 15-year grace period, which is aimed at the administration process.
