Georgia sees slight increase in exports of copper ores

Georgia's exports of copper ores from January through November 2021 amounted to 371,139 tons, worth $750.1 million, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

According to Geostat, the current figure increased by 3.2 percent, compared to $726.7 million (468,616 tons) over the same period of 2020.

However, the volume of the exported copper ores over the first 11 months of 2021 decreased by 20.8 percent.

Georgia’s exports of copper ores in the reporting period of 2021 accounted for a 19.6 percent share in the total exports, the report said.

Georgia’s copper ore exports (Jan. through Nov. 2021) accounted for the following countries:

China – $426.2 million (239,191 tons);

Bulgaria – $232.7 million (104,546 tons);

Spain – $51.6 million (26,980 tons);

South Korea – $3.5 million (420 tons).

Thus, China ranks first among Georgian copper ores export destinations from January through November 2021, while increasing the imports by percent, compared to $375.2 million (255,725 tons) over the first 11 months of 2020.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s exports from January through November 2021 amounted to $3.8 billion – an increase of 26.7 percent, compared to $3.01 billion in the same period of 2020.
