The number of international visitors to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to 1.8 million visitors, which is an increase of 7.7 percent, compared to 1.7 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.
However, the current figure decreased by 79.9 percent, compared to 9.3 million in 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).
The number of non-tourist visits to Georgia in 2021 totaled 160,029 people, which is a decrease of 31.5 percent, compared to 233,689 visitors in 2020, and a decrease of 90.2 percent, compared to 1.6 million people in 2019.
Meanwhile, tourist trips to Georgia in 2021 increased by 13.7 percent and amounted to 1.7 million visitors, compared to 1.5 million in 2020.
According to the statistics, the same indicator dropped by 77.7 percent in 2021, compared to 7.7 million visitors over 2019.
