Georgia stays on track with hazelnut exports as both value and volume grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 17

Georgia has exported up to 18,200 tons of hazelnuts worth $83.2 million from August 1, 2021, through January 16, 2022, Trend reports, referring to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia.

The volume of Georgia’s hazelnut exports in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 28 percent (3,900 tons), while the value of exports increased by 11 percent ($8.1 million), compared to the same period of 2020.

According to the ministry, Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to European countries, as well as to neighboring countries.

TOP 10 importers of Georgian hazelnuts:

Italy – 7,511 tons;

Germany – 3,523 tons;

Armenia – 1,265 tons;

China – 785 tons;

Spain – 500 tons;

Czech Republic – 445 tons;

Russia – 400 tons;

Poland – 357 tons;

Lithuania – 327 tons;

France – 327 tons.
