By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

One of the possible reasons to Georgia's drop in motor oil imports may be due to increased inflation rate in the country, which forces the car owners to delay oil change, and this leads to reduction in oil consumption overall, Trend reports, referring to the statement of the Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s imports of motor oils in 2021 amounted to 18,860 tons, which is a decrease of 1.2 percent, compared to 19,080 tons over 2020.

According to the statistics, Iran became the largest exporter of motor oils to Georgia in 2021 with exports amounting to 3,240 tons (17.2 percent of the total share).

Turkey ranked second with 3,130 tons of exported product (16.6 percent of the total share). Russia is third on the list with 2,760 tons, which accounted for 14.6 percent.
